Capacity deficit in Ukraine’s energy system

As reported by Ukrenergo national energy company, there is a capacity deficit in the Ukrainian grid.

The reason for the shortage is a rapid increase in consumption due to severe weather conditions and the simultaneous inclusion in the network of thousands of consumers from regions affected by bad weather.

At the same time, power plants cannot produce enough electricity to meet the consumer needs. Solar power plants are almost inactive due to dense cloud cover in all regions. In addition, some units of thermal power plants are still under repair.

The company urges the population to reduce the consumption of electricity.

Earlier, the energy ministry reported electricity disruptions in more than 800 towns and villages.
