The latest “equipment failure” at a “key energy facility’ in Ukraine has prompted a cascade of unscheduled blackouts across the country adding the woes to the country’s energy system crippled by Russian attacks.
Ukraine’s state grid operator “Ukrenergo,” revealed the “malfunction” took place in the early hours of July 16th but didn’t specify where it happened. It will require 4-phase power shutoffs across the country on Tuesday. Ukrenergo warns customers should be ready for longer power outages throughout the day,
Starting 10 pm, emergency power shutoffs will affect several regions, including Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kirovohrad.
The company specialists are now working to resolve the issue.
