The ‘European Solidarity’ parliament faction calls to immediately return the work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the requirements of the law and regulations.

The party statement says that Article 88 of the Constitution of Ukraine clearly defines the powers of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and his deputies, who are supposed to conduct meetings of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and organize the work of the Parliament, coordinate the activities of its bodies.

In particular, Article 84 of the Constitution specifies that meetings of the Verkhovna Rada are held openly, and its decisions are made exclusively at plenary meetings by voting.

Therefore, ‘European Solidarity’ party publicly appeals to the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada with the demand to strictly fulfill constitutional powers and to immediately return the work of the parliament to the requirements of the law and regulations.

‘It has already become a tradition for the current leadership of the BP to justify its unprofessionalism and inaction by the conditions of martial law. Martial law is used to justify the closed sessions of the parliament, the non-admission of journalists to the Verkhovna Rada, the transfer of the Rada TV channel to the private company, the obstruction of the opposition’s activities, the blocking of inter-parliamentary activities of deputies, the ban on business trips, the absence of a question hour for the government, the inability to timely announce requests and to form the current agenda of the parliament,’ the statement explains.

The party reminded that last week the plenary session at which important draft laws were supposed to be considered was cancelled.

The ‘European Solidarity’ party statement emphasizes that the parliament of a country at war cannot meet once a month.
