Explosions reported at Russia’s Savasleyka airbase, home to MiG-31K Jets

People in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod region woke up to the explosions in the early hours of Wednesday after the Savasleyka military airbase came under the attack of drones.
Home to MiG-31K jets, carrying of the “Kinzhal” missiles, the airbase is located over 1160 km from Ukraine’s border.
According to a dry statement from governor Gleb Nikitin, drones targeted the Kulebaki district in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
While the governor was tight-lipped about the possible damage, he though claimed that “necessary emergency services were working on-site” to “minimize the consequences” of the accident.
Meanwhile, the Astra Telegram channel said the locals heard at least 10 explosions at the airbase.
