Fierce fighting at frontlines: 134 clashes reported in last 24 hours

Ukrainian troops faced 134 combat engagements across the frontline within the past 24 hours with the heaviest clashes happening in the Pokrovsk sector, where Ukraine is dealing with relentless pressure from Russian troops.

Russian forces launched a barrage of attacks on August 12, conducting two missile strikes with seven rockets, 67 airstrikes, and deploying 96 cluster munitions.  Ukrainian positions were targeted with more than 4,400 artillery rounds, including 123 MLRS rockets.

Ukrainian forces are showing “resilience, responding with decisive strikes”. Ukrainian aviation, rocket troops, and artillery conducted 11 attacks on Russian troop concentrations and equipment, successfully hitting a command post and an artillery system.

Key engagements along the frontline included:

  • Kharkiv Direction: Three fierce battles were reported near Vovchansk and Tykhe.
  • Kupiansk Direction: 12 clashes erupted near Berestove, Stelmakhivka, Hlushkivka, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Kruhlyakivka, and Andriivka.
  • Lyman Direction: A total of 24 attacks took place near Makiivka, Nevske, Torske, and Terny, underlining the strategic importance of this front.
  • Seversk Direction: Ukrainian forces repelled four assaults near Verkhnokamianetske and Spirne.
  • Kramatorsk Direction: Seven battles were reported around Chasiv Yar and Bohdanivka.
  • Toretsk Direction: Ten attacks unfolded near Zalisne, Toretsk, and New York, adding to the intensity of the fighting in the region.
  • Pokrovsk Direction: This direction witnessed the most concentrated assaults, with 52 enemy attacks repelled by Ukrainian forces near Kalynove, Sukha Balka, Yelyzavetivka, and other critical locations. The highest concentration of attacks occurred near Hrodivka and Zhelanne.
  • Kurakhivka Direction: Ukrainian troops fended off eight attacks near Paraskoviivka, Heorhiivka, Krasnohorivka, Kalynove, and Kostyantynivka.
  • Vremivka Direction: Six assaults were repelled towards Vodiane, Kostyantynivka, and Vuhledar.
  • Orikhiv Direction: Ukrainian forces resisted two attacks near Novoandriivka.
  • Dnipro Direction: Ukrainian positions faced six enemy attacks.
  • Huliaipole Direction: No significant changes were reported, although vigilance remains high.
  • Volyn and Polissia Directions: No signs of enemy offensive formations were detected.
  • Chernihiv and Sumy Border: The enemy continues to maintain a military presence, conducting mortar and artillery fire on settlements from Russian territory.
