Fighiting intensifies near Toretsk and Pokrovsk, -Ukrainian General Staff update

The Ukrainian General Staff reported that as of 4 p.m. local time on Wednesday, July 31, there have been 88 combat engagements since the start of the day. The most intense clashes are unfolding in the Pokrovsk and Toretsk sectors, with “significant enemy activity” also observed in the Kharkiv region.

Border areas in Sumy and Chernihiv regions continue to suffer from artillery and mortar fire coming from Russian territory. Among the targeted communities are Mironivka, Sokich, Pavlivka, and Katerynivka, while Popivka was struck by four unguided aviation rockets.

Meanwhine, the Kharkiv region remains under continuous aerial bombardment. Since the beginning of the day, Russian forces have carried out five airstrikes using seven guided bombs, targeting the areas near Slobozhanske, Lyptsi, Vilcha, Horiane, and Velykyi Burluk.

In the Kharkiv sector, Russian forces launched seven attacks near Tykhe and Vovchansk, with two ongoing clashes in the area.

On the Kupiansk front, there have been three assaults on Ukrainian positions near Stepova Novoselivka, Kolesnykivka, and Berestove.

The Lyman front has seen seven Russian attacks near Makiyivka, Novoselivka, and Nevske. Ukrainian defenders repelled six of these assaults, with one engagement still ongoing. Additionally, the enemy conducted three airstrikes with KAB guided bombs on Lyman and nine NARs unguided rockets  targeting the Makiyivka region.

In the Siversk sector, Russian forces carried out two attacks near Verkhnokamyansky and Ivano-Dariivka, where fighting continues.

The Kramatorsk sector experienced six Russian assaults near Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, and Andriivka. Ukrainian defense forces repelled half of these attacks, with three ongoing clashes.

On the Toretsk front, the number of Russian attacks surged to 16, targeting the areas around Zalizne, New York, Toretsk, and Pivnichne. Thirteen of these engagements are over, while three are still in progress. Additionally, Russian forces conducted three airstrikes on Shcherbynivka and Toretsk.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Russian troops launched assaults in the regions of Vozdvyzhenska, Zhelanne, Serhiivka, Panteleimonivka, Novooleksandrivka, Ivanivka, Lysychne, Tymofiivka, Karlivka, and Kalynove. Ukrainian forces managed to repel 19 attacks, with 17 clashes still ongoing. Enemy losses in this area are currently being assessed. The Russian aviation conducted 20 airstrikes on Zhelanne, Ivanivka, Mykolaivka, Hrodivka, Vozdvyzhenska, and Panteleimonivka.

In the Kurakhove sector, the Russian troops carried out five attacks near Krasnohorivka, Kostyantynivka, Zhelanne, and Paraskoviivka. Three battles have concluded, with two still ongoing.

The Vremivka direction saw Russian forces storming Ukrainian defensive positions near Velyka Novosilka, resulting in four defeats for the enemy.

In the Dnipro direction, Russian forces faced setbacks with two attacks on Ukrainian positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River.

Overall, the situation on other fronts remains relatively unchanged.
