The former head of the Supreme Court, Vsevolod Knyazev, was detained by border guards at a checkpoint in the border region of Zakarpattia, just one kilometer from the Romanian border. Knyazev who is facing bribery charges had been released on bail in Jan.30 and was initially ordered to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet.

According to Hromadske reports,  the former judge was detained while traveling as a passenger in a car. The authorities have already notified the police and the Territorial Defense Center about the incident.

This news follows the earlier reports claiming Knyazev was detained in the village of Solotvyno, close to the Romanian border.

On May 27, the High Anti-Corruption Court extended the obligations imposed on Knyazev dropping the electronic monitoring requirement.
