Former Ukrainian MP hiding in Crimea issued treason charges

The State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) said it has filed treason charges against the former Ukrainian MP whose name it didnt’ reveal.  The politician was a 2-time MP representing Victor Yanukovych’s pro-Russian party a

The suspect has also been accused of “inciting hatred through deceit and glorifying the aggressor state”.

Investigators established that before the Maidan events of 2013-2014,  the man was involved in the campaign trying to throw a wrench into Ukraine’s close cooperation with the European Union. He was also behind provocations aimed at straining Ukraine’s relations with Poland.

After the Maidan events, the suspect fled to Sevastopol, Crimea, where he collaborated with Russian occupational officials,  serving in a role of the local government ‘advisor”.

The turncoat has been vocal in his anti-Ukrainian stance,  producing and sharing provocative videos on social media.

After the Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, his statements have publicly supported the war and denied the “legitimacy of Ukrainian statehood in his speeches”.

Notorious supporter of the concept “in order for a cow to eat less and give more milk, it needs to be fed less and milked more” “Servant of the People” Danylo Hetmantsev, under the guise of “business requirements”, registered a draft law on the collection of VAT on all foreign purchases, regardless of their value. In other words, every Ukrainian, buying goods of any value and purpose abroad, when sending them to Ukraine, will have to pay an additional fifth part, or 20% of the cost of the goods.
