The Journalists’ Solidarity Center has been opened in the frontline Kharkiv with the support of UNESCO.
First such centers were opened in April 2022 in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Chernivtsi. In July 2022, frontline centers started work in Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia, and the main office – in Kyiv.
The network was created by the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine with the support of the International and European Federations of Journalists, and UNESCO.
Its primary goal is providing effective support to journalists, freelancers, bloggers, and associated media personnel working in the conditions of war.
These centers serve as vital hubs that help journalists carry out their professional duties on the frontline and areas that experience Russian missile attacks.
In addition, Journalists’ Solidarity Centers offer security training and psychosocial support for media workers affected by the Russian invasion.
On October 6, the Administrative Cassation Court within the Supreme Court of Ukraine continued hearing case No. 990/80/25, in which the fifth President and leader of the party “European Solidarity”, Petro Poroshenko, seeks to have Presidential Decree No. 81/2025 from February 12, 2025 — enacting sanctions by the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) — declared illegal and annulled. The plaintiff claims the document was falsified and that the sanctions are a tool of political persecution of the opposition, contrary to international norms. Government representatives deny the allegations and insist their actions were lawful. Journalists of Bukvy were present at the hearing.
