Kyiv Taras Shevchenko university students said they will stage a boycott in protest to what they call ‘sexist’ remarks by professor Mykyta Vasylenko. He is also accused of promoting pro-Russian ideologies and acting in a pundit’s role on pro-Russian platforms.
In his interview last week, the professor said Ukrainian women are craving sex now, abnd possible deployment of European troops to Ukraine will help improve the demographic situation in the country.
The statement released by the Student Parliament said students will pause cooperation with the institute’s administration demanding immediate action. They called on leadership to protect the academic community from individuals they believe tarnish the profession of media workers and undermine Ukraine’s national interests.
The statement also emphasized that the boycott is just the first step in addressing the administration’s inaction. Students warned they are prepared to escalate their response with stronger measures if their demands remain unmet.
