Ukraine’s State Bureau of Investigation said on Friday its detectives filed charges against a law enforcement officer in the western region of Volyn after she was caught helping men of conscription age to flee into into Poland.  The officer reportedly charged $3,500 for her ‘services’.

“The men were escorted to a border crossing point in Volyn. The officer would not enter their ID information into the automated border control system. As a result, these draft dodgers crossed the border without any hindrance,” the statement reads.

Since 2022, this  scheme has helped over 30 men to cross the border illegally.

The officer faces up to 7 years in prison after prosecutors  filed a request for her arrest and suspension from duty.
