A nuclear power block has been brought back online after maintenance work on Friday, according to Ukraine’s energy ministry. It comes as a breather to energy consumers as it will add an extra 1000 MW to Ukraine’s energy grid.

Energy minister Herman Halushchenko said that its reconnection will “help balance the country’s energy system and prevent electricity shortages.”

Earier this month, “Ukrenergo” chairman  Vladimir Kudrytsky sounded a note of cautious optimism saying that power outages could be avoided next week as the energy supply was improving.

It is worth noting  Ukraine’s grid operator “Ukrenergo” continues to use rotating power outages as the country has faced another heat wave in August.
