One soldier dies due to mortal wound after 4 army servicemen try to flee to Moldova

A tragic incident took place in the Zakharivskyi district of Odessa region where four Ukrainian army deserters tried to escape to neighboring Moldova.

The deserters left the training facility on Sunday trying to get to the border by taxi. The things turned ugly when a border patrol saw the group of them rushing to the state border.
The following confrontation saw the deserters attack on one of the border guard who killed the attacker using his gun in an alleged self-defense.
Ukraine’s State Bureau of Investigations has launched a criminal investigation into the soldier’s death under Art. 365 of Ukraine’s Criminals Code (abuse of power). The investigation is overseen by the regional Specialized Prosecutor’s Office.

Rinat Akhmetov’s Metinvest Group has completed the construction of an upgraded underground NATO Role 2 hospital in one of the hottest sectors of the frontline.
