Power shut-offs called for in 2 Ukrainian regions after drone attacks

On October 28, Ukraine’s Poltava and Sumy regions are grappling with power outages after Russian drone attacks targeted local energy facilities. Following directives from the national grid operator “Ukrenergo,” Sumyoblenergo reported the will be power cuts starting at 9:06 am in parts of Konotop and Romny districts.

Officials reported that disruptions are due to a Russian attack that hit  anenergy infrastructure in the Konotop district. On October 27, Russian drones also hit energy facilities in the Romny district, which left over 16,000 consumers in Sumy region without power.

Poltavaoblenergo also confirmed power cuts will be in place at 9:01 am in Myrhorod and Lubny districts. Ukrenergo instructed the company to reduce the energy supplies by 25 MW across the affected areas to stabilize the grid amid ongoing threats to critical infrastructure.
