Russia has deployed three submarines to the Black Sea in what is seen as an attempt to bolster its naval presence after its Navy fleet and its bases were crippled by Ukraine’s drones.
Captain Dmytro Pletenchuk, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, confirmed the deployment of Russian submaries in his statement on social media, adding half-jokingly the submarines were the only remaining Russian vessels in the region after a series of recent losses suffered by the Russian fleet.

The submarines are equipped with cruise missiles and are currently operating in the Azov-Black Sea region.
