Ukrainian pesident Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the morning missile and drone assault on December 13, calling it one of the most extensive strikes against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure to date.

Russia launched 93 missiles, including one made in North Korea, and nearly 200 drones, with the first wave coming in the late hours Thursday.

“Our forces managed to shoot down 81 missiles, including 11 cruise missiles intercepted by our F-16s,” Zelensky stated. He emphasized that this was another attempt by Russian President Vladimir Putin to obliterate Ukraine.

“Putin is not constrained by range or access to the components necessary for missile production. Oil revenues fuel his belief in impunity,” Zelensky said in his bitter statement, urging a robust global response.

The president called on Ukraine’s allies to bolster its air defense with more Patriot systems to help foil future missile threats and, at the same time, enforce tougher sanctions to cripple Russia’s weapon production capabilities.

Zelensky warned that a failure to respond to such strikes would embolden Russia escalating its further attacks.

“Stopping Russian aggression requires strength, not empty words,” he concluded.

On October 6, the Administrative Cassation Court within the Supreme Court of Ukraine continued hearing case No. 990/80/25, in which the fifth President and leader of the party “European Solidarity”, Petro Poroshenko, seeks to have Presidential Decree No. 81/2025 from February 12, 2025 — enacting sanctions by the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) — declared illegal and annulled. The plaintiff claims the document was falsified and that the sanctions are a tool of political persecution of the opposition, contrary to international norms. Government representatives deny the allegations and insist their actions were lawful. Journalists of Bukvy were present at the hearing.
