In the early hours of October 3, Russian forces unleashed a massive drone attack on Ukraine, firing 105 Shahed drones from multiple directions.

The assault began on the night of October 2, around 9:00 pm, and continued into the morning. Drones were launched from Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Kursk, and Cape Chauda in occupied Crimea.

Ukraine’s air defenses foiled the attack taking down  78 drones. An additional 23 drones were jammed by  electronic warfare systems that made them disappear over Ukraine. One drone even flew off toward Belarus.

The drones targeted multiple regions, including Kyiv, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Kirovohrad, Zhytomyr, Poltava, Chernihiv, Kherson, Odesa, Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Rivne, and Ivano-Frankivsk.

Ukrainian forces responded with fighter jets, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire teams, ensuring a robust defense against the assault.
