During his address to the European Council, president Zelensky said Russia may attack Ukrainian nuclear power plants.

He stated that after the attacks on Ukraine’s thermal power plants Russian may target nuclear facilities in Ukraine.

According to the president, as a result of the previous attacks of the Russian Federation, almost the entire Ukrainian thermal power generation was destroyed. The Russians are also attacking dams, hydroelectric power plants, and gas infrastructure.

‘We also see that Russia does not give up radiation blackmail and, in particular, continues to barbarously play with the safety of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant. We do not rule out that the infrastructure of our other nuclear plants and distribution networks is also under the threat,’ Zelensky said.

To protect against such attacks, Ukraine needs more air defense systems, such as Patriot, IRIS-T, SAMP/T, NASAMS. Zelensky added that the allies have these air defense systems at their disposal.
