Russia recruits two addicts to torch Ukrainian military vehicles, says SBU

Ukraine’s Security Service and the National Police have arrested two drug addicts who were paid by Russia to set fire to military pickups in the city of Cherkasy. Within a single day, the suspects burned two SUVs owned by the Ukrainian servicemen.

One of the arsonists turned out to be a Cherkasy native while another one was residing in the city after he fled from occupied Lysychansk.

“Both individuals are drug addicts who were looking for a quick way to earn money for their next fix via Telegram channels. They were contacted by a handler from Russia, who offered them ‘easy money’ in exchange for cooperation,” the SBU reported.

The suspects are facing sabotage charges, the crime that could see them sentenced to up to 8 years in prison.
