On November 11, a Russian missile struck a residential apartment building in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region. The devastating attack caused multiple injuries, including among children, and officials report that people may still be trapped under the rubble.
“The enemy attacked Kryvyi Rih, damaging a five-story residential building,” said the official report issued minutes after the strie.
Oleksandr Vilkul, who leads Kryvyi Rih’s Defense Council, confirmed there were people wounded after the ‘direct missile hit’. As of 12:40 PM, the injured tally rose to eight, according to the regional administration. Three civilians, including two women aged 58 and 75, were rushed to hospitals.
It also injured two children: a 10-year-old girl received on-site treatment, while an 11-year-old boy was hospitalized in moderate condition.
The missile wrecked the section of the building making apartments from the first to the fifth floors collapse, which means there can still be people trapped beneath the debris.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky blasted the strike launched by the “Russian terrorists”.
“Apartments from the first to the fifth floor in one section were destroyed. So far, we know that seven people were injured, including two children. Emergency rescue operations are underway, and every effort is being made to save lives. People may still be under the rubble,” he stated.
Zelensky said that daily Russian attacks on civilian sites demonstrate a lack of intent for diplomacy. “Russia only looks for ways to continue the war. Every strike cancels out any Russian claims about the diplomatic resolution/ Ukraine needs weapons to protect against Russian terror and stronger global support to make diplomacy a real and powerful force. Without firm decisions and robust support for Ukraine, Russia will have no motivation to seek peace, [will look for] new targets,” he added.
