On September 12, the town of Pokrovsk lost water supplies after Russian shelling hit the main pipe. To make things worse, the assesment found it is beyond repair, according to Donetsk governor Vadym Filashkin.
He said ned that barrage has “disabled the modular filtration station” providing water to the city. Repair teamsare working on the scene, but the immediate outlook remains bleak.
The town though has 75 public-use wells along with 250 additional wells drilled near apartment buildings which can help ease the situation. The city administration arranged for deliveries of water and installed eight reverse osmosis units, offering free drinking water to residents.
Meanwhile, the water supply in the nearby town of Rodynske remains stable.
Filashkin urged the town residents to evacuate, arguing that the “situation will not improve” in the near future.
