In a chilling act of brutality, Russian troops executed five Ukrainian soldiers who had been taken prisoner near Novodarivka, Zaporizhzhia, on November 24.

Law enforcement has already identified the Russian military unit suspected of the crime.  Prosecutors are examining evidence, including a video capturing the shocking moment of the execution

Overseen by the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a criminal case has been launched under Article 438 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code, which addresses violations of the laws and customs of war combined with premeditated murder.

The Prosecutor General’s Office emphasized that the murder of prisoners of war blatantly defies the Geneva Conventions and constitutes a grave international crime.

The shocking incident is part of a pattern of executions when Russian troops see easier to kill  surrendering soldiers rather than take them captive is clearly  increasing in pace over the last few months.
