On Thursday, Russian troops attempted to break through Ukrainian defenses on the Kupiansk front, deploying four waves of assault groups supported by around 15 pieces of military equipment. Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled the attack, destroying enemy armored vehicles and inflicting heavy casualties.
Ukraine’s General Staff said that the attack came at 2:30 pm, when Russian assault groups targeted Ukrainian positions with tanks, armored fighting vehicles, and even deployed a UR-77 mine-clearing vehicle.
Some Russian soldiers reportedly wore uniforms resembling those of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a tactic that violates the laws of war and constitutes a war crime.
Ukrainian forces though didn’t buy into it- they responded with “skillful and decisive actions”, halting the assault, destroying all enemy armored vehicles, and eliminating a significant portion of the attacking troops.
The General Staff praised the “professionalism and coordinatated actions” of Ukraine’s infantry, tank crews, artillery, and drone operators, thanking all soldiers for their bravery and resilience in its statement.
