Russian troops target energy fcilities across 7 Ukrainian regions

Russian forces have launched attacks on energy infrastructure across seven Ukrainian regions in the past 24 hours. According to the ministry of Energy, widespread power disruptions hit the key facilities in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv.

In Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv, shelling has resulted in power outages affecting substations and consumers, though repair teams managed to restore power supplies. The Donetsk region has seen severe disruptions, with shelling taking out several substations and a local mine here 74 miners were working at the time of a attack. All miners were safely evacuated.

Chernihiv has reported damage to overhead power lines, causing outages for 3,100 customers across three districts. As of 9:30 am today, power demand  has risen by 6.2% compared to the same time on September 6 as there are no power restrictions in place.

To address the energy shortfall, Ukraine continues to import electricity from neighboring countries, including Romania, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, and Moldova. The total volume of electricity imports stands at 12,749 MWh, with a peak capacity of up to 1,287 MW during high-demand hours.
