The Mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, stated that the Russian invaders are actively changing the ethnic composition of the population in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia region.

According to him, as of now, 50% of Melitopol’s population are non-locals.

Before the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, 150,000 people lived in the city. During the two years of occupation, about 90,000 left for other cities of Ukraine and the world.

60,000 natives remained in Melitopol, but approximately the same number came from Russia.

‘Melitopol citizens do not meet familiar faces when they go out,’ the mayor added.
