Schoolchildren made to write thank-you letters to Russian troops in occupied Kherson

In occupied Kherson, children are reportedly made to write ‘thank-you’ letters to Russian troops, according to the National Resistance Center of Ukraine.

Promoted as a grass-root initiative, the campaign will require schoolchildren to write such letters on September 1 when they come back to school while teachers will need to givethem all sorts of  prompts on what to write.

The notes will be later handed over to Russian troops stationed in the occupied region and will get coverage by Russian state media outlets.

According to reports, a similar situation took place at the Oleshky orphanage, where local officials made children write ‘thank-you’ letters to Russian troops after they delivered some ‘aid’ to the institution.

The National Resistance Center of Ukraine believes such actions are part of a broader, deliberate policy aiming to wipe out “self-identity of Ukrainian children”, which can be regarded as a form of “cultural genocide”.
