A former head of the Odesa military recruitment center will face trial after being caught forging his medical records to dodge service and spend time vacationing in the Seychelles and Spain.
According to the investigation, the officer whose name is not revealed failed to report for duty on December 2, 2022, and continued to evade his service obligations for two weeks. When questioned about his no-show, he claimed to be ill and provided a fake medical certificate claiming he was receiving treatment in a hospital.
On December 19, 2022, he went even further making the military unit’s doctor issue a discharge summary from a hospital that recommended a medical treatment abroad.
Investigation though found that the officer had taken his family on a vacation to the Seychelles and Spain.
The former military officer is now in custody, awaiting trial.

This is the new reality for Ukrainian forces, who have received enhanced protection thanks to the Metinvest project within “Steel Front of Rinat Akhmetov”.
To commemorate the third anniversary of the full-scale invasion, “Bukvy” has compiled data on the largest donors supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Among them there are charitable foundations and businesses. The list includes, in particular, foundations that provide assistance exclusively from their own resources, without fundraising (such as SCM by Rinat Akhmetov, Epicenter, etc.).
In just 1.5 months, Ukrainian specialists have created an innovative protective shell for the control modules of anti-aircraft missile systems (AMS) Patriot and Iris-T SLM. This development was another step in strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities, aimed at protecting key elements of the air defense system from debris damage.
