Stefanchuk accused of sexism in relation to MP Iryna Herashchenko

During a break in the work of the Verkhovna Rada, the ‘European Solidarity’ faction appealed to Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk with a demand to put on the agenda a vote on the banning of the Moscow patriarchate church and a resolution on the creation of the commission on fortifications and providing the Armed Forces with drones.

During the dispute and refusal to implement the relevant demands, Stefanchuk turned to the co-chair of the ‘European Solidarity’ faction Iryna Herashchenko with the words ‘what a good girl’.

MP Herashchenko was indignant at such an address and asked the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada to apologize for it.

Petro Poroshenko stressed that this is rudeness and improper behavior, unacceptable in professional communication between members of parliament.

Later, after Herashchenko once again asked for a public apology, Stefanchuk said, ‘If you took this as an insult, I apologize. But I didn’t know how old you are. It was about your gender’.
