Men under 25 and  living in ‘occupied territories’ or residing abroad can now be granted student deferements for the time when they enroll in college or university.

The goverment said these two categories are temporarily exempt from military registration as their current residence status makes such registration impossible.

However, they will be required to register for military service once martial law is lifted.

The new policy update was worked out by the General Staff, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Migration Service, and the Ministry of Education.
