The U.S. Embassy in Kyiv has issued a warning that Russia may try to ruin Ukraine’s Independence Day by targeting Kyiv with new attack.

“There is an elevated risk of both nighttime and daytime Russian drone and missile attacks across Ukraine in the coming days and through the weekend due to Ukraine’s Independence Day on August 24,” the statement reads.

The embassy urged its citizens to stay alert on the days leading to August 24 and take necessary precautions for their safety.
