Ukraine is ready to invest in joint defense enterprises, – defense minister

During a meeting with US Assistant Secretary of State James O’Brien, Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said that Ukraine is ready to co-invest in joint defense enterprises and directly purchase weapons and equipment from American companies.

The minister thanked for the huge and regular assistance that the USA provides to Ukraine, and which is extremely important for the country.

Rustem Umerov outlined his priorities during his 100 days as a minister, including the fight against corruption, transparent procurement, and the production of new weapons.

He informed James O’Brien about the launch of the State Rear Operator as a key part of the new procurement system.

Conducting a financial audit under the leadership of deputy minister Yurii Dzhyhyr is another priority.

The parties also discussed preparations for the NATO summit in Washington next year.
