Ukraine has received a new tranche of €4.2 billion from the European Union under the Ukraine Facility program, according to the country’s prime minister Denys Shmyhal.
In his statement on social media, the prime minister said that the funds are earmarked for “social programs, humanitarian aid, and other important budgetary programs”.
While Ukraine is slated to to receive another tranche that is part of the EU’s four-year program by the end of 2024, it still continues to spend “own resources” to fund its “military expenses”, stressed the prime minister.
Earlier this month, economy minister Yuliya Svyrydenko signed a financial agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, securing grant aid under the Ukraine Facility program totaling €5.27 billion over the next four years.
