Energoatom company has started a project on the construction of new power units at Khmelnytskyi NPP using the American AR1000 Westinghouse technology.
The fifth power unit at the Khmelnytskyi nuclear power plant will be the first in Ukraine built using American AR1000 technology.
One of the features of American AR1000 technology is the ability to maneuver blocks. Today, Russia is attacking precisely the balancing capacities of the Ukrainian energy industry, therefore the construction of blocks with the possibility of maneuvering is of great importance for Ukraine, noted energy minister Herman Halushchenko.
According to Energoatom CEO Petro Kotin, after the construction of power units 5 and 6, the capacity of the plant will exceed the capacity of the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
