Ukraine may have fewer rolling blackouts in late July, according to Yuriy Boyko, Ukraine’s state grid operator representative.

“The situation will be rough till the 20th of July. Starting from the 20th, when some of our energy facilities will be up and running again after repairs, and it will increase our energy generating capacity and make current power outages shorter,” said the official.

Boyko though cautioned that the grid systems will still deal with energy shortages.

It’s worth noting that many customers and businesses are now facing long and frequent power cuts this summer as the combination of the damage caused by Russian strikes and recent heat waves have put a strain on Ukraine’s energy grid.

Another factor that is ongoing maintenace campaign at some of nuclear power plants – it is needed to ensure Ukraine will keep people’s homes warm this winter.
