Ukraine to receive air defense systems from Canada and Germany – Zelensky

During a press conference at the EU leaders’ summit on December 19, President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed Ukraine will be sent new defense systems from Canada and Germany.
Ukraine previously said it needs 19 additional systems to protect its hobbled power grid, and without these, the counry could lose four gigawatts of electricity capacity.
“This is a serious problem. Russia understands this, and they are targeting our energy infrastructure. We are defending it. The matter is urgent, and there has been progress. We already have confirmation for several systems, which we will receive soon. Canada and Germany are providing assistance,” the president said.
On December 18, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte confirmed that Ukraine would receive 19 air defense systems from allies to protect critical infrastructure.
