Ukraine’s air defense for the first time shot down Russian strategic bomber

Ukraine’s Air Force reports that during the Friday morning Russian missile attack they managed to destroy a Tu-22 Russian strategic bomber.

The bomber was shot down due to the joint operation of the Air Force and main Directorate of Intelligence.

The statement stresses that this has been the first time the Ukrainian forces managed to destroy a strategic bomber.

The aircraft was downed in Stavropol region of the Russian Federation. In addition, the air defense for the first time managed to intercept two Kh-22 cruise missiles.

Commander Mykola Oleshchuk added that Ukraine still needs more air defense systems to withstand the Russian missile terror.
