Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense said on Monday it has uncovered three fake versions of the “Reserve+”, a mobile application for military registration.
Kateryna Chernohoryenko, Ukraine’s defense deputy minister said that the Cyber Incident Response Center identified these fake applications during their ‘development phase’.
“Our specialists detected this threat swiftly, and we wanted to alert the public as soon as possible to ensure people remain vigilant and know how to spot these fakes,” said Chernohoryenko.
She reminded that scammers often use slight variations or misspelling in the website or app name.
On August 4, Ukraine’s defense ministry issued a warning about fake apps used for harvesting personal information of Ukrainian conscripts.
Chernohoryenko urged citizens to be cautious and verify the sources of any links they click on. She advised using only the official “Reserve+” website at reserveplus.mod.gov.ua and to avoid links ending in .top, .website, .org, or similar domains.
