As a result of the blocking of checkpoints on the western borders of the country, the economy of Ukraine suffered losses of more than 1.5 billion euros, said the deputy head of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council, Denys Marchuk.

The losses were calculated for the period November – December 2023. Marchuk emphasized that Ukraine’s economy will feel the consequences of strikes even in 2024.

In particular, some manufacturers lost potential contacts and contracts with European representatives.

He cited an example when the Ukrainian side could not deliver goods on time, so contracts with companies, including hypermarkets, were terminated.

Because of the blockade of checkpoints, the export of agricultural products by motor vehicles decreased by 40%.

Marchuk stressed that the exporters of the western regions, who traditionally deliver their products to Europe via land routes, were the most affected by this, as exporting by sea is much more expensive for them.
