Ukraine’s gambling industry pays 12 billion hryvnays in taxes over last 8 months

Ukraine’s gambling sector has paid 11.7 billion hryvnias in taxes to the state budget in the first eight months of 2024, marking a 2.1-fold increase compared to the same period in 2023, according to the State Tax Service.

For context, the gambling industry contributed 10.4 billion hryvnias in 2023, a figure that was 51 times higher than pre-war levels in 2021. Compared to 2022, tax revenues from the sector have surged by 14 times.

In the first half of 2024 alone, the gambling sector paid 8.4 billion hryvnias to the budget, almost tripling last year’s figures. One of the largest contributors was Favbet, which paid over 3.1 billion hryvnias in taxes in the first six months of 2024.
