Ukraine’s goverment to ease power outage rules for businesses

Ukraine’s government is set to bring in lax power outage schedules for “certain businesses”, according to MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak. The new rule will exempt companies from power cuts if they “generate at least 80% of their own electricity”.
Zhelezniak claims the policy will be introduced at the next meeting of Ukraine’s goverment, adding that the move is “akin to importing electricity”.
This change follows an early June resolution, which exempted industrial consumers from outages if they imported 80% of their power. Before this, the threshold was 30% from May to September 2023 and 50% from October 2023 to April 2024.
