The Ukrainian government has spent 2.98 trillion hryvnias in the first three quarters of 2024, with nearly 65% allocated to security and defense. However, defense spending was 7.3% below the planned budget due to incomplete procurement processes.  The finding were revealed by Ukraine’s Audit Chamber on Wednesday.

To meet annual targets, an additional 737 billion hryvnias must be spent by year-end, posing a budgetary strain and increasing debt risks. Social protection and subsidies spending were also under budget by 20% and 21.9%, respectively.
