In a bid to spur up a conscription campaign, Ukraine’s national postal service, Ukrposhta, has sent 20,000 draft notices to conscripts, according to Ihor Smilianskyi, the company’s CEO.

“We’ve delivered 20,000 summons, and they are still going out,” he stated. “Each summons is numbered and protected. This means we use a secure envelope that safeguards the personal data of the future conscript, and we monitor the process closely, tracking deliveries daily.”

As the delivery is set to continue, Smilianskyi said that the notices are sent to the addresses registered in the “Reserve+” or “Oberih” systems, arguing that these documents are no different from court summons, official documents, or traffic violation fines, which also get delivered by Ukrposhta.

It’s worth noting that the postal delivery of summons started on July 18, exactly 60 days after the mobilization law took effect. If a conscript refuses to accept the summons or cannot be found at their registered address, a draft notice still counts as officially delivered.
