Ukraine’s prosecutors ask several countries to assist with arrest of fugitive Ukrainian MP

Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office said on Monday it has officially reached out to several unnamed countries, requesting the detention of a fugitive member of the Ukrainian parliament who is facing assault charges in Ukraine.

Prosecution said it has filed request for an Interpol Red Notice to help with , seeking the lamwaker’s arrest.

Fingers are clearly pointing at Artem Dmytruk as the Pechersk District Court in Kyiv ordered his detention of MP on August 29 after his escape from the country.

Dmytruk has been charged with several crimes, including assaults carried out by a group against a law enforcement officer and a soldier, attempted theft of a firearm, causing moderate bodily harm, and hooliganism.

Ukrainian media reported that Dmytruk, who had been a staunch prooponent of the Moscow Patriarchate church in Ukraine, fled the country illegally on August 24. That same day, he left Moldova and boarded a flight from Chișinău to Rome. Authorities continue efforts to have him extradited back to Ukraine.
