Ukrainian Army mulls introduction of Cyber Forces

The creation of such army units was discussed by during the meeting of Ukrainian military and lawmakers on Thursday.

Chaired byLieutenant General Anatoliy Barhylevych, the meeting reviewed the draft concept that follows the experience of leading countries operating cyber armies.

The discussion also covered Ukraine’s wartime experience in using its military and other Defense Forces units in cyberspace.

The main tasks and functions of the Cyber Forces were not revealed but they would focus on the distribution of responsibilities within the security and defense sector for actions in cyberspace.

According to the General Staff, “Creating Cyber Forces as a separate branch will significantly enhance the capabilities of the Ukrainian military, ensuring effective planning and execution of a full range of tasks in cyberspace, which, like land, sea, air, and space, is recognized as a separate operational domain.”
