On August 13,  Ukraine’s government said it will offer a 110 MW of renewable capacity in 2024 as part of the green auction program that supports domestic renewable energy businesses.

Economy minister Yuliia Svyrydenko said that pilot “green” auctions will kick off this fall through the online tender platform ProZorro.Sale.

“First and foremost, this initiative ensures transparency in the allocation process. Additionally, it marks a transition to a new support model for renewable energy and aims to attract investments in this sector. Investors will benefit from long-term guaranteed support, enabling them to secure loans, create jobs, and develop new generating capacities,” said the minister.

Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko emphasized that “distributed generation will be a key priority” as renewable energy production can substantially help increase the generation capacity in Ukraine.

The additional annual renewable energy support quota is allocated as follows:

  • Solar Power (SPS): 11 MW
  • Wind Power (WPS): 88 MW
  • Other Sources (biomass, biogas, small hydropower plants): 11 MW

Maximum Bid Prices for Auction Participants:

  • Solar and Wind Power: 9 euro cents/kWh
  • Other Renewable Sources: 12 euro cents/kWh

According to the program schedule, pilot auctions for quota allocation are planned for October-November, 2024, and will follow the policy introduced by Ukraine’s goverment in December 2019.
