Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate said on Wednesday that its August 16 drone attack targeting the Russian Savasleyka airbase destroyed three aircraft and damaged five others.

The damage assesment that took a week revealed that the strike resulted in the destruction of a MiG-31K or MiG-31I fighter jet, along with two Il-76 transport planes. Additionally, five other aircraft, likely MiG-31s, were damaged in the strike.

This operation follows an August 13 attack that hit a fuel depot at the same airbase and damaged another MiG-31K/I. At that time, the base housed 11 MiG-31K/I jets, one Il-76, and five Mi-8 and Mi-23 helicopters.
