Ukrainian MP Maksym Tkachenko backtracked on his earlier claim that “99%” of displaced Ukrainians have to go back to Russian-occupied regions after they have failed to fit in in the places where they found refuge.

On Monday, the lawmaker admitted his judgement was inaccurate: “There is no such data. It was an unjustified and emotional assumption on my part,” Tkachenko clarified.

He acknowledged that while some individuals do travel to occupied areas for various reasons, there is no verified statistic to suggest “hundreds or tens of thousands” of such cases.

Earlier this month, the MP argued that some 150,000 displaced Ukrainians had returned to occupied territories, including 70,000 to Mariupol alone as they had a hard time finding a job or were offered low-paid positions.

Notorious supporter of the concept “in order for a cow to eat less and give more milk, it needs to be fed less and milked more” “Servant of the People” Danylo Hetmantsev, under the guise of “business requirements”, registered a draft law on the collection of VAT on all foreign purchases, regardless of their value. In other words, every Ukrainian, buying goods of any value and purpose abroad, when sending them to Ukraine, will have to pay an additional fifth part, or 20% of the cost of the goods.
