Ukrainian MPs oust Maryana Bezuhla from parliamentary subcommittee leadership

Ukraine’s parliamentary National Security and Defense Committee has removed Marianna Bezuhla from her position as chair of the subcommittee following a string of controversial statements on Ukrainian military leaders.
“The Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence has decided to remove Marianna Bezuhla from her position as chair of the subcommittee on democratic civilian control,” wrote opposition lawmaker Iryna Friz.
According to Iryna Herashchenko, a European Solidarity MP, Bezuhla’s removal got the majority of the committee votes but remains blocked by Ukraine’s presidential office.
Bezuhla responded promptly. Commenting on the situation on social media, she said the committee members have been ‘silent’ on many scandals in the Ukrainian army, trying not to ‘smear the military leadership’.
