Ukrainians pay 8.4 billion hryvnas in Google tax over last 10 months

Foreign companies providing digital services in Ukraine have paid over 3.1 billion hryvnias on their profits  in the third quarter of 2024.” Known as a Google tax, this policy helped Ukraine take in 8.4 billion hryvnias  in revenue this year.

Compared to the second quarter, such tax obligations rose by 7%. New tax contributors this quarter included international companies like Zoho Corp., Notion Labs, and FX Replay.

Leading contributors such as Google, Apple, META Platforms, and Valve Corp. still top the list of biggest tax-payers, contributing over 2.2 billion hryvnias collectively. Meanwhile, companies like UpWork Global, Sony, and Etsy, added some 300 million hryvnias.

Ride-sharing companies Uber, Uklon, and Bolt reported a VAT total of 89.4 million hryvnias, up by 20 million hryvnia from the 2nd quarter.

Notably, adult entertainment platforms OnlyFans and PornHub prove to be a dilligent tax-payers contributing 58.4 million hryvnias in VAT payments, and it is happening despite the fact Ukrainian laws ban the production and distribution of adult content.
