Ukrzaliznytsia launches job site for war veterans

Ukraine’s rail operator, Ukrzaliznytsia said on Tuesday it has launched a website for veterans and servicewomen, providing information on employment options they can try out in the company after their military service. The company is actively inviting veterans to join its workforce.

Ukrzaliznytsia reported that 10,579 employees are currently serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, with 1,441 already having returned to work. Sadly, 570 former railway workers have died in the line of duty. Since 2022, more than 13,000 Ukrzaliznytsia employees have joined the military.

“We are incredibly proud of their bravery and resilience, and we deeply value their military experience, sense of justice, leadership skills, and their ability to achieve results as part of a team. They are heroes, and we eagerly await their return to Ukrzaliznytsia. We are doing everything possible to ensure they feel comfortable and supported, creating a barrier-free environment where they are respected and understood. We are also opening new opportunities for their professional growth. Ukrzaliznytsia welcomes every defender who wishes to become part of our railway family,” said CEO Yevhen Liaschenko.

The newly launched website features information about the company’s veteran policies, detailed guidance on the process of returning to work, support programs, and resources for medical treatment and rehabilitation.

“In our veteran policy, we clearly outlined all the steps HR specialists should follow when veterans return to work. We accompany veterans through every stage of the process, helping them integrate into the work environment, adapt their workplace, or even change jobs due to injuries. We also created a Veteran’s Path Map, which provides step-by-step instructions for railway workers who serve, starting from their time in the military to their return to civilian life,” the company said in its statement.
